Netflix Raises International Prices

imagesThree-fourths of Netflix’s new subscribers now come from outside the U.S. Perhaps accordingly, the streaming giant has elected to increase its international pricing.

New European Netflix subscribers who choose its most popular two-stream HD plan will now pay €9.99 ($11) a month, a one-euro increase. Existing customers will keep their same pricing.

This price match echoes the $1 per month increase that new U.S. subscribers paid last year.

Richard Broughton, research director with Ampere Analysis Ltd., said the following about Netflix’s international growth:

“Despite growth in domestic Q2 net additions on a year-over-year basis, an ever-growing international footprint resulted in three-quarters of Netflix’s net new paying subscribers in Q2 2015 being derived from markets outside the USA,”

Do you think this increase will deter any potential European subscribers, Insiders?

    No Not at all..
When my $7.99 deal is up in June of 2016… I’m looking for it to go up to $8.99 maybe $10.99.. And that is still a great deal….
    You really can’t beat NetFlix…

If it goes up to $9.99, I may keep it month to month; yet if it goes up to =/> $10.99 I will probably only get it once every other month. For two years netflix allowed current subscribers to keep their $7.99 a month pricing (which I am too am benefiting from)- yet I have noticed that I both need to not watch it (netflix/movies: due to time and life efficiency constraints) as much and also only watch the higher rated shows: which I can spend more time on if I only use netflix monthly.
