Outrage over new pricing notwithstanding, Netflix continues to slowly dominate the streaming industry. A new study by research firm Parks Associates has revealed that more than a fifth of U.S. broadband homes now use Netflix streaming.
The ever-larger migration to streaming is part of a larger trend of cord-cutting that seems to be taking place. 22% of the Parks Associates survey respondents saying that they have or will scale back their monthly cable costs.
With more than half of the flat-panel TVs sold this year coming internet-ready, and the majority of broadband households owning at least one internet-connected console or device, the gradual demise of the current pay-TV model seems inevitable to many.

People aren’t “cutting the cord” because “the cord” is their broadband connection. They’re just dropping the TV service because $7.99 is better than the $39.99 for pay tv service. They can get the networks OTA without much effort (in most areas).
