Netflix’s recent revelation that it streamed more than one billion hours of content in June has gotten the attention of many industry insiders. In fact, one prominent analyst estimates that Netflix may now be more popular than any U.S. cable network.

BTIG analyst Richard Greenfield estimates that Netflix had about 24 million U.

S. subscribers in June, and each of those subscribers watched an average of 80 minutes of streaming content every day in June.

Those numbers could actually mean that Netflix is more popular than any U.S. cable network. The company has long claimed that it competes with the likes of HBO and Showtime, rather than cable TV itself, but these latest numbers may tell a different story.

Do you spend more time watching Netflix content than you do cable TV these days?

I watch my Directv a lot more. I probably find myself watching Redbox when I’ve watched everything I wanted to off Directv and if there’s no Blu-rays or new releases I wanted to watch. I would say I plan to watch more over time as they keep adding good content. This year was the first time I had a gap where I had no premium cable channels, mostly because they cost so much and the amt of movies and good shows has gone down a lot.

I cut the cable Tv last year. Don ‘t miss a thing.. And I really like the $95.00 a month I put in my pocket.
I have Netflix online. Block Buster two out at a time. All for under $30.00 a month. Who needs crap cable TV.. 95% of the shows are crap now anyway.
And the shows I want. I can get on DVD when they come out.
The only bad thing I see. The people that run your net are going to put a cap
on your use. Say 10 movies a month. Then they will hit you BIG BIG time..
    Just a thought!

We are watching Netflix more and more. If I could subscribe to less than a handful of stations ala carte via AppleTV I would cut the cable cord and do a combo of iTunes and Netflix.

We watch Netflix streaming all the time now. We have Direct TV, but it seems that the only things on ar infomercials and home shopping channels.

Unless cable TV companies start offering programing ala carte, they are doomed. They currently require you to subscribe to huge amounts of programing that is worthless in order to receive a handful of enjoyable channels. I cut the cable TV cord over two years ago and save over $100 dollars a month. I receive over 30 channels (many in outstanding HD) over the air through a plain old 1950s rabbit ears antenna placed in the attic. I stream Netflix content daily and occasionally rent a movie at Redbox.

We have not had cable for years, we only watched about 5 channels on cable. We now just go to the network for what show we what to watch or hulu. It may be a couple of days but who cares, its a tv show. Netflix has something for everyone in the family and the price is right.

I watch Netflix at least 3 hours a day. They have so many, many choices that I have trouble deciding what to watch but I also watch cable tv about the same amount of time and then I have to make time to watch Redbox movies.
