Pawn Stars, Storage Wars and American Pickers fans looking to get their fix of their favorite shows on Netflix will now have to look elsewhere. About 800 hours of A&E and History channel shows have been removed from Netflix due to the two sides’ inability to come to terms over content cost and exclusivity.
About 300 hours of A&E content will remain on Netflix through an agreement that expires in the middle of 2013.
Netflix spokesman Joris Evers issued the following terse statement about the loss:
“A number of titles expired today, that is true, but we have titles coming on and off all the time,”
Is Netflix going to continue to bleed content over disputes and disagreements with content owners? Will its competitors like Amazon be able to capitalize on these content gaps?

I am not gonna pay more than $7.99, so if Netflix says no to their high price for average content, good for them. I only want to watch content from companies are fair. Abandoning Netflix to go to another carrier is just gonna start the price increases. If I stay put then if the other companies realize they can’t sustain pay high costs, then maybe content owners will wake up and see they are pricing themselves out of the market when no one is willing to overpay.

I say kudos to Netfilx for standing up to the studios. They keep trying to suck blood from a turnip and it’s about time ALL providers tell them to take a hike. If enough providers refuse their exorbitant rate hikes, they will have no option but to keep prices down.
NetFlix has done the right thing here I think. Standing up to the blood sucking studios. If more people do that. In time studios will get it. But only if all the providers tell them to take a hike. I will sit tight with NetFlix. Even if they up it a few more bucks. Maybe $10-$12. a month. Still a great deal.
Kudos to NetFilx and Dish Network for saying enough is enough. The costs of producing A&E reality shows are negligible and AMC shows aren’t worth millions and millions of dollars they tried to extort from Dish. Thanks again Netflix and Dish for giving us a voice.
