Netflix_just_rolled_out_a-23308e111c03d9879747487ba767324cNetflix wants to help you keep your internet and wireless service providers honest. Just a few months after launching fast.com, a free internet speed test tool, Netflix has now rolled out the FAST Speed Test mobile app.

Available both on iOS and Android devices, the app allows Netflix subscribers—and anyone else—to test just how speedy their internet connections are within one megabit.

Netflix’s Sergey Fedorov and Ellen Livengood said the following in a blog post:

“We wanted to make sure that fast.com could be easily used and understood by the majority of internet users, without requiring them to have any prior knowledge of computer networking, command line tools, and the like,”

Do you applaud Netflix pushing this type of transparency? Have you tried the desktop or mobile version of this speed test?

I have used the Fast.Com app and find that it is consistent from day to day and hour to hour and is also consistent with most other internet speed test sites.
