If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you hopefully are a fan of the service’s original content, because it’s got a lot planned in the coming years. Speaking to an investor group in New York, Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, said that his company’s five-year plan includes original content launches every two weeks.

Sarandos said that his company will be spending billion per year on content, both original and licensed.

Sarandos’ vision for Netflix’s future is even bigger, however. Said Sarandos:
“We see this [as Netflix becoming] the first global buyer of programming. We’re operating in 50 countries … and we went in preemptively and worked on those deals because of our confidence in [producer] Warner Bros. Television’s commitment to making [“Gotham’] a great show,”
Can Netflix meet its (increasingly expensive) ambitions, or will the company be forced to face reality as subscriber growth slows?

Content is king!
It will be interesting to see if Netflix can not only pick original programming that attracts subscribers, but also if the programming has legs and appeals world-wide by NOT being idiomatic nor provincial.
If the content is good, there is really no ceiling to how far netflix can take off in the market.

6 billion? Thats alot hopefully it be great content
Netflix just picked up “Longmire” after A&E dropped their #2 scripted drama because 1) too old viewer demographic and 2) Warner Horizon wouldn’t sell A&E the show. 36,000+ fans trended every week on Twitter until it was picked up. Netflix doesn’t work on advertising; they only care about subscriptions.
