Even though it’s dropping a bundle on content acquisition, Netflix doesn’t see a need to raise money again like its $400 million stock and convertible notes sale last year. That was just one interesting tidbit revealed by Netflix’s chief financial officer, David Wells, at a recent conference.

Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, Wells also discussed the following:

The company’s cash-raising needs are always being evaluated

“There is an open question about originals [and how much cash will be needed] . . . We are taking a measured approach . . . We will evaluate this based on the portfolio and how it is performing.

Netflix has a “healthy” supply of content suppliers and doesn’t see any film or show as an absolute must-have

“[Our content is to some degree] fungible . . . There isn’t content we have to have.”

Netflix sees a lot of familiar faces in its subscriber sign-ups

“There’s a 40 percent chance that someone who leaves the service will come back,”

Netflix is still trying to perfect its recommendation engine

“It’s frustrating to mathematicians that you still get a better recommendation at a cocktail party than the engine (we use).”

I have NetFlix online. And happy with it. And the cost. Two Big things will keep me with them…
1.CC. Closed Caption on the Movies and TV shows that they have online.
Right now they have over 2,000 of them and adding more all the time.
Being hard of hearing, CC Closed Caption is a must for me.
    2. Cost. $8.00 a month you can’t beat it. Even if it goes up a bit. Like to $12.00 a month. I will keep it.
    NetFlix is fine for me..

Ditto Dano! I am also hard of hearing and must use CC or headphones. I have noticed that it seems of late that more movies are being added and that’s what I want, as I’m not into TV shows so much. I would like to see more recent movies added though, but, for the price I can’t complain, I would never be able to watch everything in their catalog.

Closed caption is a great feature of Netflix. And I’ve tried Amazon Prime, but several of the TV episodes I watch on Netflix for free aren’t free on Amazon even with Prime. So, Netflix is cheaper by far, and if I want a movie that Netflix doesn’t have, then I’ll go to Redbox.

I love Netflix also but I really wish people would stop saying they wouldn’t mind if the price changed from $8.00 to $12.00. I would definitely mind.
