Netflix Begins Recommending TVs

imagesThe Netflix brand, once confined to a quirky DVD-by-mail company, continues to creep into more and more areas of the entertainment industry.

Witness the new “Netflix Recommended TV” logo that is now being applied to certain televisions from makers such as LG, Sony and Roku.

The “Netflix Recommended TV” campaign aims to raise consumer awareness of web-connected TVs and their ability to stream Netflix and other OTT content without a connected streaming box.

Brady Gunderson and David Holland, directors of business development at Netflix, said the following about the new campaign:

“We expect more models and manufacturers to achieve the ‘Netflix Recommended TV’ designation over the next couple months, and we’ll be continually updating our website to reflect that,”

Will consumers give this marketing push any credence, Insiders, or will they just see it as a gimmick designed to help Netflix infiltrate even more homes?
