Getting the free code once a month won’t effect me because I rarely use it .
I don’t mind paying a dollar to see a movie, it saves me money.

I think that the people that are getting so upset about not getting a free code every week are the ones that have more credit cards than they need (they probably pay the smallest amount required), and the people that go and burn a copy. Pay a dollar or find something else to do with your time.

I think Honeybunny is rude and presumptuous. I appreciate getting the free movie once a week, I have NO credit card debt and I have NEVER burned a copy of a movie. I am, however, thrifty and appreciative of these offers. Have a nice day.

What I said doesn’t apply to you now does it. There are people that have abused the free codes. How many times have you read that people have x amount of credit cards and getting a bunch of movies and burning them?

I have always appreciated the Monday codes. We are a movie family. We have never abused the free Monday movie, but we also get the dollar movies during the week. So we are saddened that we have to miss out on this one privilege during the week. We will continue as usual, but unfortunately with the gas prices rising again we will have to miss out on Monday or another day of the week. Even though it’s just “a dollar”, when you have a family and on a budget a dollar is a lot and adds up fast.

I have always been thankful for the free codes and I never abused them .I don’t need to burn copies and I don’t need a bunch of credit cards either.
If a person is getting more then 2 movies( using promo codes) and taking them back the next day they either have way too much time on their hands or they are burning them.
As to how I know about people doing this kind if thing would be by reading comments by people like you! People have stated on this site about how they are using the codes and all there credit cards and burning the movies, and people have stated how they went to rent or return a movie and found that the person befor them didn’t properly return there movie so they decided to steal the movie instead of doing the right thing and put it in the machine! Could that be why you are so hostile towards me? You really should seek out some counseling for anger management.
        I don’t mind paying a dollar per movie it’s only a dollar.

I hope you have a real nice day!

So you are saying because YOU, Honeybunny, got “2” dvds at a time instead of say 5, 10, 15 dvds at a time with your “1” Monday promo code, that YOU, Honeybunny, therefore never abused or “stole”–as you labeled it. Your thoughts are interesting, judgmental…and certainly self righteous. It’s a tough economy, people are trying to find ways to stretch their budget… BUT my bet is that 99.999999% of people in line behind someone who left before their dvd was successfully returned and therefore popped out, WOULD successfully take the time to return the dvd for that impatient person instead of ‘stealing’ it. A little less judgment, a little more understanding. As they say, He who is without sin be the first to cast a stone. I guess because YOU, Honeybunny, were only getting “2” dvds with your “1” Monday promo code, that YOU are without sin… Totally innocent and superior to the rest of the peons.

REPORT YOUR CARDS AS POSSIBLY COMPROMISED! Switch to FREE Tuesdays!

Get new cards sent to you and with a new CC number, use REDBOX first, then DVDONME, BREAKROOM. Get a gmail account so the e-mail is different and get another code mailed to you as a new customer!

Free Tuesdays won’t last forever, some butt head corporate bean counter will command the programmers to fix it soon, just like the bastards did for Monday codes. (yea, I’m a little pissed off about that, can you tell?)

I have limited or no money, so these codes help me get movies for my daughter to see and we can spend time together. By the way I have 1 credit card and it has minus 2 dollars on it. It sure comes in handy when I need to get a movie with these codes!

The Monday code will be missed by all. The economy is bad – people need to save when they can. I am usually broke by Monday – the money just doesn’t go far enough. I live in a little town – have to pick one up on the way in. YOu don’t just drop and go for a movie. Don’t be so hard to judge want others needs may be – redbox is a great deal – for all that use it.

I am only judging the people that have stolen from others and for using the codes and a bunch of credit cards so they can burn the movies.
If you walked up to the machine and found a movie hanging out of the slot would you :
        A) Return the movie for the person who didn’t wait to make sure that they returned the movie correctly ?
        B) Take the movie and laugh about it and let the person who didn’t properly return it end up paying $25.00?

        • Member [Join Now]
          Car [car]

          C) If it’s something you would like to watch, go home with it, watch it, then try to return it before 9PM so the idiot doesn’t get charged, if he does, well… maybe that will teach the idiot something. (once I watch a movie I really don’t want to see it again anyway so why keep it)
          D) Grab it quickly and throw it at the stupid dork who was in a big hurry as he’s walking away. He’s the same bastard driver that was riding your ass earlier.

          • Visitor [Join Now]
            rb [visitor]

Actually, my first and only thought was that I’d grumble a lot about what an impatient idiot the person was for not waiting the 8 seconds or so to make sure the $25 dvd was successfully returned… Then I’d grumble some more as it took the 8 seconds out of MY TIME to return it for the idiot! However, I never thought of Car’s suggestion! So now, if I’m ever behind such an idiot, and if I’ve never seen the idiot’s dvd, heck, I’ll just take the idiot’s dvd home, watch & enjoy it, and return it by 9pm! I’ve done nothing wrong, nothing criminal! I’d have a clear conscious about it! I’d just have ‘borrowed’ the idiot’s dvd for a couple hours as PAYBACK for the stress the impatient idiot had caused me! It would be a win, win situation!!!…. Where’s that impatient idiot? I need to be behind that idiot when he/she is returning some new releases on Wednesday afternoon!!!

So today there is still a free code?

I am really disappointed. Suddenly Blockbuster isn’t so bad now. ($2 a day, but with Rewards card, I can also get another DVD FREE there)

However, I [B]strongly[/B] advise this to Redbox, that may won me back big time. Which is to stock enough Blu-rays, and also let me look up/reserve BRs online. If I can’t get the movies free anymore, at least make the service BETTER, right?

Otherwise, when I goto Wal-Mart/Redbox, and I don’t see any Blu-ray, I will pass unless the movie is just not on Blu-ray yet.

Right now, my priority IS to rent/see Blu-ray movies, instead of these SD DVD movies, though.

So, Redbox better hope the movie I want to rent is NOT on Blu-ray, or they WON’T beat Blockbuster in this area!

I’m sure Redbox will go bankupt without your business. Most of us don’t waste our money on Blu-rays.

I think you should have a choice Blu-rat or other because not every one owns a blu-ray player.

    • Visitor [Join Now]
      Sydney [visitor]

Wow! Not everyone wants to pay the price for a Blu-ray player. I don’t seem to mind watching my old movies on VHS, either. If you can’t get past the extremely vivid picture–which, by the way, will be obsolete in a few years as well–you have no imagination when watching a movie.

I appreciate Redbox offering the free movie on Mondays, but if they choose to cut it back to once a month, I’ll appreciate that as well. They don’t have to give us anything for free. I’m just glad they do. When I get the free one, most of the time I get a couple more for $1 each. I think Redbox is using a wonderful advertising tool, which doesn’t cost them anything, & saving people money as well.

Thank you, Redbox! Sorry we have so many greedy, unappreciative people who don’t realize you are GIVING them a free rental! Thanks!

Thanks to Inside Redbox for the free weekly codes. I have been using them for over a year and telling everyone I know about Redbox. Now that the free codes promotion is ending, I will go back to the library and back to watching movies free at Netflix and at other online sites. I enjoyed your pomotion while it lasted. Thanks again.

Yea, now I can’t tell people they can get a free code every Monday anymore, I used to promote this to everyone NOW I CAN’T!!

Thanks, Redbox greedy corporate bean counters, you had free promotion from all your customers, NOW GO PAY MILLIONS FOR TV ADS INSTEAD!!! You stupid greedy idiots.

Watching stuff on the internet is becoming more popular anyway, and saves me gas, SO BYE BYE Redbox corporation, it was nice while it lasted!

I agree — I enjoyed a couple of free movies and liked the promotion, but have enjoyed many more at $1 and am very happy that for a dollar you can enjoy a good movie. It became so popular at the store I go to that they added a 2nd Redbox.

Whoa — I was agreeing with Honeybunny — What are you people thinking?? $1 is great! Are you on welfare or do you think this is a government run program that it should be free? This is a business folks so quit gripping about the promotion ending and let them make a $1/movie for goodness sake!

First I want to thank you for your “free” rentals. My family and I have enjoyed, along with $1.00 rentals the bonus of a free one!
I cannot believe that people think they are “entitled” to free codes-it is a gift!
Who do they think, or how do they think that the discs are bought, mailed, advertised, etc.
I will continue to use redbox-it makes things very acessible, quickly done and in a busy lifestyle this has alot of value!!!
    Sincerely,

Because I tell someone that doesn’t use Redbox or thinks it’s too complicated to even go try that they get a free movie ONCE A MONTH, they are going to say “big deal, so what”.

Once a week, and it’s a good enough incentive for them to go give it a try, then they’re hooked and realize that it’s really not so hard, they can get a movie when they go shopping and all that.

But, the corporate types don’t understand that. Oh well, another business model going down the tubes….

We are puzzled that anyone would be cranky that the weekly code promotion is ending….we think $1 movies are terrific! I have enjoyed renting for a dollar, but find limited selection as I refuse to rent anything rated “R” and limit “PG-13” as there is enough profanity and nudity and violence almost everyday with out having to go out and rent it.

    • Visitor [Join Now]
      Sydney [visitor]

I agree! There have been times I went to Redbox only to leave without renting anything because of the lack of descent movies. It is fair to say that they may have been checked out at the time I went, but I would like to see more family-oriented movies at Redbox, if possible.

I realize with the writers’ strike the quality of movies overall has gone down dramatically, but there are still good movies to be found. Any chance of bringing the “Love Comes Softly” movies to Redbox? A new one just came out & I don’t want to pay $4.99 to rent it from Blockbuster.

I guess I am confused.. the release states..

The redbox Free Movie Monday promotion, inviting consumers to receive a free rental code via text message every Monday, will be extended through

    August. ?????

Originally slated to end May 11, redbox will extend the promotion due to consumer popularity and will transition from a weekly free code to a monthly free code.

The Free Movie Monday monthly code will be distributed via text on the first Monday of every month, beginning June 1. To register or view promotion details, go to http://www.redbox.com.

    Then it states:

The last Free Movie Monday weekly rental code will be distributed May 11. ????

So which is it.. Extended into August or ending today?

I have a question. Are the monthly Monday codes only being texted to your cell phone? what if you don’t have a cell phone.. Is this site going to be available so that we Seniors can log on to see the Monthly Monday code.. Just curious.. I loved the Monday free codes. My husband made Monday our “Movie” night and we looked forward to it after a busy Sunday.. Thanks for any replies.

Weekly Monday promo ends today. Monday promo, period, ends that first week of August. Which is a technical error; Redbox says it’s going “to keep the free flicks coming once a month throughout the summer.” They then go on to ask what you’re going to spend those extra $3 you’re saving on, so it’s extended for three months.

But June 1 is still spring; summer actually falls within the first weeks of July, August, and September.

But, whatever, it’s not good marketing to give your customers a mere 5 days warning that a promotional is ending. For a promo ending May 11, the cut-off date should have been announced April 13 to allow a month for word-of-mouth circulation.

I’ve noticed a bit of a change with Redbox the past few months. Increasingly unfriendly customer service and more instances of a redbox experiencing limited touch-screen functionality or just a black screen. A box being down for a day or half a day is more harmful to revenues than a promo code. So if Redbox is trying to blame falling profits on promos, that’s a narrow-minded view of the whole situation.

      • Visitor [Join Now]
        Sydney [visitor]

What a grouch! Who cares if they only gave a one-day notice? It’s a FREE movie promotion.

Are you going to die if you don’t get to see a movie? You are not required to rent any movie at any time. And, if you are just dying to see a movie, is $1 too much to spend? How much do you spend at McDonald’s!

Thank you Redbox, in spite of the grumps who think the world owes them everything for free! I appreciate your free Monday promotion, and wish it would continue, but if you choose not to continue it, obviously it wasn’t as good for your company–and your company is in the business of making money and not just giving charity. I thought the free Monday rental was a great way to advertise your company and appreciate the freebies you have given us. Thanks!!!

Word-of-mouth is notoriously unreliable when it comes to things like exact dates. I think they did the right thing in making the announcement just before the last weekly code, anything else is confusing to many people.

I enjoy the promos but have experienced charges on my credit card for alledgedly keeping a movie 19 days, 4 days, 4 days. I am fastidious about use of my promo codes and bringing the movie back the next day.

This is a quick $30 bucks in the Redbox till that does not belong to them. This can seem inconsequential but if you add up even a $10 mischarge to a million customers over the course of a year that’s $10 mill more profit. Mine alone was $30.00 in 2 months!!

NOW I see how Redbox makes a profit!!

Maybe it’s not Redbox’s fault. Once I was standing in line waiting to return my rentals & someone returned theirs and walked away. The machine rejected it, for some reason, and the next person in line took the movie! It was all on camera as it was at a Walmart! I just hope they get caught!

I’m sorry this has happened to you, but have you spoken to Redbox about it? Good luck!

also, to JediFreeStuff, you CAN look up / reserve online.. @ redbox.com not insideredbox.com it’s actually very convenient and fast to pick up..press (a certain option on the) screen, swipe your card, movie pops out – done.

THE FUTURE WILL BE.. Downloading to a box like Tivo, AUTOMATICALLY like a Tivo does, because it uses a AI system that figures out what you like and goes and gets it.

The shows come from “TV” companies who put LIMITED ads on the shows. THere are several “TV” companies that compete for downloads, so the commercials are limited, less commercials, more downloads because people rate the shows by which TV company they come from.

People have the power in the future to control corporate greed due to the Internet.

You have a group of friends that are like you and they all rate things and you trust them and your AI uses that info to pick downloads.

    Bye bye Redbox!!!

It looks like that whole thing rotates when you return, looking for the closest open spot to put the DVD back.

I don’t see any sort of arm on the right, maybe at the bottom, something needs to pick and place the DVD. And the very bottom row looks empty, probably to hold “overflow” returns. That spot and the top would be the longest wait for a return.

On the left upper part I see a power supply or maybe the main computer box, the next thing down is ???? Has a see through window, or is that a product sticker, WTF? Looks like the flux capacitor from back to the future.

I would’ve gotten out of the car after a few pics and been all over that thing taking more till he closed it.

Calm down Car. Calm down…at least long enough to explain to me what you mean about switching to Free Tuesdays. Was there always a free tuesday rental I, and others, were unaware of? Details!

There are no “free Tuesdays”, Car is just being a jerk.

He’s right, there’s no free Tuesdays for people who don’t use their brain, don’t think out of the box, keep doing what everyone else is doing, can’t be creative, do what they are told and kiss corporate ass!

“People have the power in the future to control corporate greed due to the Internet.”

How idealistic and unrealistic of you. The Internet itself was unfettered 10 years ago, now it is more and more subject to corporate greed and government power grabs.

Comcast now caps bandwidth at 250GB/month. Other cable companies such as Time Warner have tried it as low as 40GB with $1/GB extra, though for now have backed off due to the outcry they didn’t expect. They see movies and TV via the Internet coming and want to profit from it. Corporate greed isn’t so easily defeated.

i think that free movie rentals are great and actually get me to renting more movies even when i have to pay for them. And that one day a week free movie pass helps!! thanks

What is the status of the general codes like DVDONME, REDBOX etc?? Will these be deactivated too or will they work into the future? Two of my credit cards expired and i got replacements for them, so hopefully they will still work in the future.

YES! The man is ready for a FREE Tuesday!!! Join the club today!! (if the expired card has a new number, not just a change in the exp date, let us know if it worked either way).

I have loved the Monday free rental codes and never did expect to get them forever. Now that they are going to stop I will have to stop renting movies altogether because of financial reasons. Thanks Redbox for your generosity.

I look for the Monday promo code because it is a nice way to start off my week. I don’t often get the change to use the code but when I do, it is appreciated and if I keep a movie over one day I understand I will be billed $1.00.
I agree with other comments made that I have not abused the code, copied a movie, or know of anyone who has.
