With things looking grimmer and grimmer for Blockbuster, entities to whom it owes money are attempting to get what they can while they can. A group of landlords who collectively own the leases of nearly 40 BB locations are threatening eviction if Blockbuster doesn’t pay its back rent.

The group of landlords, in a recent filing with a New York bankruptcy court, are claiming that Blockbuster owes them 9,000 for rent for the month of February, as well as other fees.

Summit Home Entertainment has also gone after BB for more than $9 million for rental discs it has provided Blockbuster with.

Will these organizations ever see their money, or is it a lost cause to try to get any funds from Blockbuster at this point?

I hardly feel like I need to say it, but BB is circling the drain… let it go.

The sad part is how many they are going to take down with them. Summit is fortunate that Twilight is big. Someone more on the edge like MGM or Lions Gate will really be hurt by the lost revenue.

This is also why I and some others on here think it’s criminal that they’ve been allowed to postpone bankruptcy for so long. All they are doing at this point is spending other people’s money without regard for consequences. The government needs to start seizing property and freezing assets of not only Blockbuster but their executives as well. They are just playing out their salary at what will eventually be our expense.

Honestly, any studio or landlord who extended terms to BB for the past couple of years knew what they were getting into and should take their lumps with all the other creditors.
