Wow! Can you believe August is here already? Its been a pretty lame summer for movies overall, but we can look forward to some great releases through the rest of the year.
Also, some new features over a Redbox.com will be of a great help. And, you can bet on some new things coming here at InsideRedbox, too…
QUESTION OF THE WEEK (+ NEW FEATURE)
Our last question had to do with your preference of movie genre. As expected, we all have various types of movies we like. It seems every style was represented, and I am sure Redbox will continue with a good mix into the future.
As I mentioned, Redbox is going to beadding a new feature to their website very soon. This feature will allow you to check what movies are currently available in your local Redbox. What I want to know this week, is will you use it?
Question: Will you use the Redbox.com website to check if what you want to see is in the Redbox before going out to pick-up a movie?
Click here and scroll to the bottom to answer this week’s question.
NEW RELEASES
This week’s major releases are: The Shaggy Dog and V for Vendetta. I will add the other releases as I find out what they are.
Also, last week had some good releases, too, with the major releases of The Benchwarmers, Final Destination 3, and Deep Water.
And, as you have probably noticed, Redbox is continuing to add TV shows to the mix. But my question is when will they add the most popular shows, like 24, Lost, Numb3rs, Smallville, etc…
Click here to discuss Movies and TV in the Redbox Forums.
I am not sure of the Redbox revenue model for TV shows, but it seems they could do a big service to the television networks by getting people hooked on their shows. The networks could provide the DVDs for free to Redbox, and Redbox just does some “advertising” for them, and everyone is happy. Is this how it is happening? I would love to know…
REDBOX CODES
As you may have noticed, there haven’t been too many new codes added over the summer. There are still a good number of codes working, and with the “reset” glitch Redbox had a few weeks ago, it bought a lot of us the ability to reuse previously used codes.
Anyway, I expect to see more codes as we come into the fall. Who knows, though? Stay tuned and we will see what happens together.
COMING NEXT WEEK…
Since all of you contribute a great deal to this site, I want to help you… About 20 of you will get $1000 or more just for completing 1 free offer. I will explain all the details next week, so stay tuned.
In the mean time, tell your friends about this website. The more people who know about this site, the more that will be able to receive the $1000.
Tell a friend or two about InsideRedbox.com today…
Have a great week, and make sure you tell us about the movies you have seen in the Redbox Movie Forum.
Until next time…

Absolutely! It will save me a trip over there if the movie I want to see isn’t available. But I also may see that another move I want to see is available.
I am all for the popular TV shows. I am way into 24 and it would be nice to be able to rent them and watch a few hours at a time
Andy
I think that is a great feature! I’d love to know what’s actually in the box before I make the trip!
If I’m dying to see a specific movie, I probably will check the Web site. However, most of the time, I won’t. Like Melissa, I’ll just assume they have something available that I want to see.
I will, but I don’t know how reliable it will be. From the time I check at home, to the 2 blocks ;) it takes me to get to redbox, someone may have already snagged the one I want?
i think i would use it everytime i go out to redbox there isnt ever movies i want to see i usually have to go to about 4 different ones so ya i will use it
It’s going to be a great feature and hopefully eliminate the waiting in line behind someone who is on the cell phone telling the other person what is available.
Convenience is what we all live for. I really DO LIKE the convenient method of finding out if the flick I want to see is at the most convenient RedBox to where I am calling/looking up on internet at http://www.redbox.com. In the past, I have called RedBox on their 800 number hoping they could tell me if the flick I was wanting to watch was available in RedBox location in my area. No luck in getting any satisfaction. I am happy to hear this! Patience is a virtue(vir-choo). Thanks.
I would definitely use the feature that would let you see what movies are available at which Redbox.
It would save me a trip, or tell me which one I should go to. If only they took reservations or online ordering! :(
I would defenetly check the website before heading out there. I am in houston, and over here there are many redboxes at a close proxcimity. It would be great if I could just log in and check which one has the movie that I want before I leave work. This will open a whole world of oppertunities.
Also I like what Dana said about reserving online, that would be great too. Even if its for about an hour or two, that would shoot the sales over the roof. I don’t know if that is somethign that was intended at the start for redbox, but its would be worth a try!
I would use this feature. Even if by the time I make it there to rent a DVD they don’t have what I want to see, it will be really nice just to browse what’s there before I get in my car with both kids and make the trip over!
YES, IT WILL SAVE ME TIME GOING FOR A CERTAIN MOVIE AND THEN IT NOT BEING AVAILABLE.
I would definately use the new feature. Can’t wait for it to be up.
Definatley….I go to redbox to get specific movies for my kids….they are disappointed when it’s not available.
I was just at Sam’s Club, and they have a HUGE section of TV shows. Hint, hint, Redbox!
I am sure it has been stated previously, but I would definitely use RedBox’s websaite to check a specific location for a particular title. Also, if we were given the capabilities of reserving it online, that would definitely rock. I am not too sure if RedBox is putting a hurt on the big guys, but this would definitely be a pain in their butt.
Yeah I would definantly use the new feature defiantly because of the rising gas prices it would be helpful for saving a trip or if you wanted to know if they had a certain movie that you wanted.
Yes this will be a great feature. To add to this it would be great if you could pay for it on line and then redbox could not dispense it for 24hrs. Your account would be charged the $1.00 + tax. After 24 hrs. it could be rented by some one else.
Yes i will use this feature a lot, i hate going to the red box for a movie and then its not there. this would save me on useless trips.
Yes, I would use this feature alot. Also, I would love to see you put on the website what the ratings are for (ie: language, violence, etc.). As a parent, that would be very useful.
This feature is awsome! especially with all the gas prices going up. It would save me a trip. My nearest redbox is over 4 miles away.
That would be a great feature for Redbox to add! I know I see many people walk up to the Redbox and walk away, dissapointed the movie they wanted wasn’t there, and yes, that person has been me quite a few times. I’m excited and can’t wait to use this feature!
Will use this feature. Echo what all are saying so far
Thanks
sure I will. if I am planning to get movies I will first take a look at the site.
sure i’d use it. it saves time and gas; how could this be a bad thing?
YES! I will certainly check the website to see if the movies I want are there! That will certainly save me the time of driving all the way to the Redbox & then driving to a bunch of locations trying to get the movie I want!
YES!
I would most certainly check before i left the house unless i was just wanted to browse the selection. My only squabble would be, will it be pda and cell phone internet capable? i dont want to look up a movie, see its there, and get to the store and see that it was rented a minute before i got there. MAKE IT PDA AND CELL PHONE READY!
Yes, I would. It would save a trip. Make it cell phone capable and I would use it every time.
Sure I’d use the feature. There are three Redboxes that I go to on a regular basis because sometimes one doesn’t have what I want. Now I could go straight to the one that does have what I want.
YES that will b awsome since 1 is right arond the coner. I would use it all the time!! :D
I would definitely to save on wasted trips.
hell yes!!!!!
Yes, I would definitely use this service.
Yes, would most definitely use this feature. With gas prices so so high wasted trips are futile.
While checking for the most current Redbox codes, another moment to check on the availability would be great. The key would be the reliability of the information and how quickly it would be updated.
Yes, I know I will. Knowing what I am going to be able to get can make the difference when trying to persuade my family to make it a Redbox Night!
Yes, I have been wanting that. the Redbox by my house is always sold out of everything. and there is always a line to rent. Thanks for the info.
Yes i will most definitely be using this feature. I hate having to travel to 2 or 3 different boxes in my area just to try to find one movie. This will be a great feature if it is implemented well and works accurately. Kudos to redbox for trying to improve an already great program. And thanks for the inside scoop!
I would love to be able to see what is in the REDBOX before driving over to it. Definitely a GREAT Idea. Thank you for having the vision to always improving things.
