Yet another week has went by, bringing us closer to the end of summer… and closer to the new online system at Redbox.com. As many of you commented last week, the ability to check the availability of movies online will be great for everyone.

Last week I mentioned a contest – a way for you to win $1000. I am postponing this a week to give everyone a chance to know about it and participate. So, look for more info next week.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

As I mentioned earlier, the concencus is that you all will definitely use the new movie system at Redbox.com. In fact, I don’t think anyone posted that they wouldn’t use it. So, kudos to Redbox for adding a new feature everyone will like.

This week I want to ask you about having contests on InsideRedbox.com.

Question: Would you participate in a contest where you can win cash and/or prizes for completing a sponsored (free) offer? Why or why not?

Click here and scroll to the bottom to answer this week’s question.

Thanks so much for your participation!

NEW RELEASES THIS WEEK

Movies: Inside Man, Ultimate Avengers 2, Bring It On: All or Nothing, and Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector

TV: Prison Break: Season 1

Completing a sponsered offer…. so whats the contest? I don’t get it. You have to complete an offer and then you get your name in a drawing to see if you win the contest? If thats the case.. No I will not participate.

    That would be cool.

I would enter as long as my email address is not given to the sponsor. From past experience, once given to a sponsor you then get 10-100 emails a day. The freebie is then not worth it.

i totally agree with jennifer when i enter a contest i usually get way more then a hundred e-mail and it’s annoying, so no i’m not interested in a contest.

as long as it isn’t some page after page deal where you can’t continue unless you complete x amount of offers. i hate those gimics!

What are THEY getting for their $1,000? As mentioned, I think the target audience is getting fed up with e-mail solicitations, and typically sets up a secondary ‘junk mail’ account for this purpose that rarely gets checked. Ultimately, the list of e-mails addresses provides nothing back to the giver. My suggestion is to increase your winning audience, and decrease the award amount… and make it meaningful. No data mining please… RedBox should be able to provide buyer behaviors.

Yes, contests are great, but only if I don’t get a ton of email because of it.

My machine has 6 disks of Prison Break in it, so someone must be listening.

I think the guy who loads my machine has been lazy. He didn;t show up at all last week, and the poster hasn’t been changed forever.

I think the contest idea is a good one.

Like the idea if there isn’t tons of spam or having to complete 10,000 sponsor offers to be entered.

I will participate as long as I do not get deluged with junk e-mails.

Contests are cool….. As long as receiving 2000 spams are not part of the deal.

I would most definetly partcipate in the contest. It is always worth a shot in trying to win some.

I would be interested in something like this as long as it isn’t a catch to have you sign up for something else. There are too many annoying contest that have a catch just so they can send you junk mail.

You know what I wouldn’t mind, when all of the current movies are not as exciting, is a few “classic” movies that are all time favorites – stuff like the original “Pyscho”, “one flew over the cuckoo’s nest”, “fast times at ridgemont high”, “Saturday night fever”, the original “Ten commandments”, “Shawshank Redemption”, “the God’s must be Crazy”, etc, etc…

contest? I’m in. Where do I sign up, what did I win?

Make it a bribe, not a contest!
If your going to offer money you should offer it to everyone. Cmon you’ll be earning money for refering them. Besides what you give out as a bribe can be a fraction of what you get.

I would not take a survey for a CHANCE to win some money or a prize. Waste of time!

Just a heads up guys…I just spoke with Redbox on the phone. After a heated argument and much convincing I was able to get SOME of the charges reversed..Heres what happened: My boyfriend and I rented movies on Friday August 4th. We returned them a day late so we were prepared for the extra $3.22 charge right? What were weren’t prepared for is what came next…One day his bank account balance was $116. The next day, however, it was $48 and some odd cents!! I said “You need to find out what happened to your money” We looked at his bank account online to find that the missing money was sent all to Redbox!! So I just got off the phone with them. They admitted that they took money that wasn’t theres to take with some stupid excuse about when we returned the movies they weren’t right and the tech had to return them manually. The screen has ALWAYS said “Successfully returned” so I don’t know why that would come into play. Then they claimed we rented movies from a location that we have never rented from and said we kept the movies out for 4 days!! The lady was VERY rude and was literally arguing with me. Finally a supervisor came on the phone and agreed to return 4 of the charges so we are going to get $35 back. The lady also got nasty and said that she knew we had been using promo codes and told me exactly which ones were used/tried, the date, the time and everything. So don’t think that they don’t know what’s going on. That’s probably why new codes haven’t been being released that often. I personally am sorry to say I won’t be using Redbox again due to all of the problems. (This isn’t the first time they have not credited us when the movies were returned or dreamt up charges that should have never been) So user beware. Also don’t be afraid to call and dispute any bogus charges you have or questions. If I hadn’t called I wouldn’t have gotten at least some of my money back.

We love to win things but as several others have said we hate getting the excessive e-mails which makes the contest not worth it.
