Hulu Plus offers hi-def streaming of full seasons of many popular shows, and is available across multiple devices, including set-top boxes, gaming consoles, iPads and iPhones. The premium service appears to retain the ads that its free sibling is supported by.

I really want to get hulu plus and cancel cable. But right now there aren’t many appliances that do it. Once the 360 and Roku are ready I may be able to do it. Although I’m still mad that they’re going to make me join xbox live gold to do it.
XBOX Live Gold Members have access to ESPN (which is basically an ESPN3.com app for XBOX 360) is that will help sway your decision-making. Otherwise, do you not enjoy playing video games of varying types? I know I am hyped for the Pacman Championship DX.
I’m using the free Hulu service now to keep up on a lot of missed TV programs and some old movies and series like Redshoe Diaries and the Hitch Hiker from long ago HBO. I am very happy with the free Hulu service. The new price for the premium service is tempting since I am not using cable or dish but not yet. More tempted to get a streaming netflix or redbox subscription for current movies.
I thnik you’re going to see them greatly reduce or phase out the free stuff. Make you pay for all of it.
Coincidence they made it 7.99 the same as Netflix’s new streaming only option? Slim and none.
If that means more on TVs and less online only then I’m all for it. I too think they’ll go that route. The double pay system will be an incentive for the content owners since they can guarantee some up front money while still sharing ad revenue.

The $2 price cut definatly helps. I still won’t get it because I don’t really any devices to watch Hulu on and I don’t want to sit at my computer for that long.
An Antenna (Free TV is DTV and virtuallly all non-compressed hi definition!) is still the best option. 26 channels FREE Over teh Air here in Portland, OR and were not even a top 10 market. Add in free Hulu, maybe a $4.99 nexflix subscript (2 movies by mail 3-4 via steaming a month) an occasional Redbox rental all combined with an HDMI cable to connect and see your PC thru your TV (simple) is MORE than enough TV!!
That is really killer! Nicely done! What do you watch on OTA other than the initial’s helping of shows after 6pm, if you watch those shows? What video card do you have to achieve this? I am very interested in getting a similar setup started. Right now, Mom & Pop pay for DirecTV in SD while they have 1080i HDTV’s. I pay for Netflix w/Blu-Ray access, Xbox LIVE, and RedBox rentals.
Use a paperclip in the back of your HD TV. No antenna purchase required! Straighten a metal paperclip and then make a 90 degree bend in it. Insert into your HD TV’s cable/antenna connector on the back (the silver one with the threads on it). Pick up over the air signals in crystal clear HD.

For many of us in rural areas,there is NO such thing as free TV-even with a tower antenna. To view even local channels, we must have cable or a sat dish setup. I use my Vizio BR player to stream wirelessly and love it. If Hulu adds an app so I can stream via my player (as I do with Netflix), I’d give Hulu a try. I doubt they can match Netflix for volume, at least in the near future!
I have the hardware (Sony HDTV & PS3) for both services and it is a REAL convenience, however, Hulu Plus & Netflix streaming are not apples to apples. I cannot justify the same $8 a month for each of the services when Netflix offers so much more and is commercial free!!! I think I could stand to pay $4 a month until content improves, but not until then… Jason, lol, does the paperclip REALLY work?!?
Yes and no. Depends on the strength of the signal. If you’re within 30 miles of the transmitters, you certainly don’t need a rooftop antenna though. I’m about 20 miles from the transmitters and on the ground floor, so I use an 8-foot length of coax and move it around a bit.
The biggest problem will be stations on broadcast channels 2-6, less of a problem with channels 7-13, and very little problem with channels 14-51. If you’re within 15 miles of the transmitters and all the channels are on 14-51, a paper clip will probably work just fine.
Netflix for 8.99 + tax a month is the best deal, PERIOD. Add $2.00 for Blu-Ray. One DVD at a time and all the streaming you want. But, that can be limited by Comcast bandwith limits[250gb month].
A PS3 is the best way to go.
No Hulu for me!
