I have been seeing some comments from some of you about not getting the promo codes from the rent-3-get-1-free promo Redbox did in April. Redbox said these codes would be available for use from May 7 through the end of the month.

Did you rent 3 movies in April (paid rentals) and receive your promo code yet? Or, are you like others and still waiting for the code? Let us know in the comments, and hopefully Redbox will get on the ball with delivering these out to everyone.

    I had to send an email to Redbox to get my code. They sent me my code the next day when replying to my email. Hope this helps.

    I haven’t received my Free Promo Code and I know I rented “more” than the required three movies so I emailed them for it.
    I am sure it will come soon because I have never had a problem with RedBox when I have had issues.

    I haven’t got mine I always rent 5 at a time!!!I will call 2-day about this because that’s right fairs fair!but Redbox is still my #1!!!!!!!

      I’ve tried renting 5 at a time a few times and never have been able to. Only have been able to rent out 4 at the most. For some reason I always get an error message that you can’t check out more then 5 when I’ve tried checking out only 5.

      As for the free rental. I haven’t rented 3 movies from Redbox in April. I rented from Blockbuster cause Redbox signing deals with the movie studios as well as Netflix forced me to go to Blockbuster to get the new releases. I’ve also canceled my Netflix account.

    Yikes. That is some kind of a customer relations disaster for Redbox.

    They should have known better. When you try and attract the people who expect things for free or ultra-cheap you’d better not piss them off. They’ll get mighty angry mighty quick.

    Everyone should just be patient. I’m sure Redbox will figure out what has happened as soon as they can.

    I have not received my free code either. The problem may be due to how Redbox tracks purchases. It appears to be done by individual credit card number. I have a registered profile on Redbox.com but I did not register (the manage cc link) any credit cards on it because I never know which card I will be using due to getting different reward earnings with different cards. I do always use the same email address when renting so I have a rental history I can refer back to. I almost always rent on location at the spur of the moment. When I looked at my 90 day online rental history it was blank even though I had also reserved a few movies in the past 90 days. So maybe the system is only looking at registered card activity or at worst reserved (online) rental activity.

    As with most posters, I had not received my code so I called them. You need to have the credit card and email account you used, so that they can go back and check your account. There seemed to be a problem with my having rented all 3 movies at the same time but they approved and gave me my code on the phone.

    I am inquiring about the free code for renting 3 movies in April and getting a free code for May.
    I did not recieve mine,and I am a loyal Redbox customer.
    I recentaly tried to help a woman with movies out in front of Greenhills Market in Syracuse NY,on S. Salina St.
    She was in this big mad >(*) hurry,and left her car running,on the wrong way side of the one way entrance,with a car load of kids jumping over the seats,and was going to at any moment put the car in gear. So I offered to put the movie that she actually threw on the ground,back in its case,ad was going to put it in the machine,but low and behold,she had already jammed the machine so bad with the first one she had..and I mean real bad,it more or less was getting chewed up with every clunk,and I can see ehy,if she threw together the way she threw together the one I picked up,as she is fleeing from the scene,I an see why it was jammed.
    Anyways,I called the redbox number on the machine,I attemped to give it to someone in greenhills to hold til the machine was fixed,but they would not take it,it was not their pocily with the company,so I call redbox again,and they told me to keep it.I feel bad that I have a movie here,which is a cartoon,and I have no use for it,except give it to my yound grand kids..but boy could we make a movie out of what happened..I stayed there in the pouring rain,trying to figure out what to do,along with a young grocery bagger,we gave up,I went home drenched,with beauty and the beast at my side..lol.
    What woud you folks like me to do?

    I didn’t receive my code so I e-mailed them.
    They replied that I didn’t qualify, which was BS.
    I replied back and stated the day I rented (I did 3 online reserves + 1 at kiosk when I picked up my reservation.)
    They replied with a code :)

    Did not receive code as expected. Emailed my info to Redbox customer service. In about 2-6 business hours received a response with the free code.

    I’m a little disappointed I had to spend the time looking up the info, sending it off to them, wait for response. I probably would have felt better about the experience had they sent a second code for the inconvenience of having to deal with their error.

    Time after time when I hear about problems like this, I am always stunned to find that people will not pick up the phone, dial the toll-free number and speak pleasantly to the CSR at the other end. Redbox is a company, and like most companies they do NOT want to aggravate their customers, which means they more likely made some mistakes in the emailing of this promotion’s free codes than they did trying to screw their own customers over.

    So this morning (Friday May 14) at 9:10am CST I dialed their number, waited less than a minute and spoke to a very nice and cheerful CSR who apologized for the problem, got my information and confirmed that I had indeed rented 6 movies in the qualifying period. As a way of apologizing, she gave me TWO free codes, both expiring 45 days from today, since I had rented twice what was required. I asked for them in an email (and got them within a few minutes of hanging up) but she would have given them to me over the phone.

    Great customer service, but you’ll never know it unless you’d just pick up your phone and call – don’t bother with emailing as this is immediate and will leave you in a better mood.

    I’ve had to call them three times, all about the same outdoor machine whose card reader seems to crap out a lot but it’s the one on my main route from work to home. Always a pleasant experience, they always offer to look up nearby machines and twice gave me a free promo code as an apology for the inconvenience. I have no issues with RedBox, they’re a great company for what they are – there’s only so many movies they can cram into a kiosk, to the point where several stores in my area have two of them.

    And, no, I didn’t get my rent three get one free code either, but honestly I didn’t go out of my way to rent the three – I would have rented with or without the promo. Haven’t decided yet if it’s worth my trouble to look up the transactions and call them.

      You don’t need to look them up if you know you made them – all you have to do is call and give your info (last 4 of the credit card, zip, confirm name) and they’ll look it up :-)
