I am not sorry for the Blockbusters and other big Video stores.My husband and i ran 2 mama and papa video stores and they >>>BBster undercut us and put us all the mama and papa stores out of business…now it is their turn..how many small video stores do you know of now…most of them are gone..because of the big guns we are no longer in business..so for one am not sorry for them what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander

“just seems something unlawful about that”

Several people at times on this blog have claimed that renting out DVDs bought at retail must be against the law. But it isn’t, which just goes to show that you can’t always use how it “seems” as a guide.

In general no company is forced to sell directly to everyone. The Weinstein exclusive deal with Blockbuster should be sufficient proof that that holds true in the DVD industry.

As I’ve said before, I think Redbox will likely lose, but lawsuits can hinge on the smallest of details and so there is certainly still a chance Redbox will win.

I agree with what you’ve said about how the value has been just decimated.
The competition might be overpriced but I think most people feel like they are stealing when they can get a movie for $1 when they paid $3 to $4 ten years ago. I cannot name too many products that have had their perceived value go down so fast in 10 years as had dvd rentals. $1 today would be like renting for $0.60 ten years ago.
