This week, we’re giving away five-packs of free Redbox rentals to three lucky winners!

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and it’s a great time to talk about the best movies on the topic of love!

Enter this week’s contest by answering the following question in the comments section, and then clicking on the green button below:

What is the best love-themed movie of all time?

Love is a very general topic, and doesn’t necessarily have to be the romantic kind. There are of course classic love stories such as Beauty and the Beast, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Casablanca, Dirty Dancing, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. What about more unorthodox “love” stories, like Frozen, Pretty Woman, Love Actually, and more?

Again, answer the question above in the comments section, and then enter the giveaway by clicking here:

You can also earn extra entries by sharing this giveaway via Facebook and Twitter! The giveaway ends on February 15, and in next Friday’s contest post we will announce the three randomly chosen winners, each of whom will receive five free Redbox rentals!

“Secretariat” Not only was he by some to be considered a freak of nature due literally to the size of his heart (21 oz), which was nearly 3 times the size of an avg. horse which is 8 oz, although most thoroughbreds are about 12 oz’s. To this day, no other horse since (Belmont in 1973) has broke his track record. Only horse to ever be named in the top 100 “Life Mag. Athletes.” Even made Ophra’s list. & to this day, every time there’s the near hope of another horse winning the Triple Crown (Derby, Preakness, & Belmont.).

Clearly, the best love-themed movie is The Princess Bride. A classic, it endures even to this day with cultural references (“as you wish”, Dread Pirate Roberts, ROUS, “you killed my father, prepare to die”, etc). It’s built on a true-and-tested formula of boy meeting girl, boy unable to be with girl until he proves himself, boy becomes a hero after conquering terrible enemies and obstacles, and boy wins girl (with a little bit of comedic relief thrown in for good measure). Also contains costumes, storytelling, swordplay, and a princess. All adds up to a great love story, and the twist at the end is beautiful. No spoilers.

Easy – Forever Young – Mel Gibson
My girlfriend at the time told me she wished someone would love her the way Mel loved his woman in FY. 8 months later I proposed to her in front of our youth group and she accepted. Oh, and I used that movie as my proposal, except when Mel finds his girl at the end I dubbed in myself on one knee asking for my bride’s hand in marriage. That was almost 21 years ago!! 8-)

Is anybody really winning these Redbox free rentals? Haven’t seen a list of winners in some time. Less than 500 people post to this blog each week and I have never won on this site. Makes you wonder.

Sending messages to this site is a waste of time. Nobody ever responds to them.
Several people have inquired about what happened to the list of weekly winners and there has been no response. Maybe they stopped awarding the Redbox passes as advertised.
