aereo_logoAereo is admirably trying every avenue possible to stay alive in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that stated the company was violating intellectual copyrights with its unique business model.

Now yet another blow has come to struggling Aereo.

After the Supreme Court ruling, Aereo tried to define itself as a cable operator to attempt to skirt the ruling. The U.S. Copyright Office reportedly does not accept that positioning from the company. From a Copyright Office letter:

“In the view of the Copyright Office, internet retransmissions of broadcast television fall outside the scope of the Section 111 license,” wrote the Copyright Office.

So what little hope there was for Aereo seems to be dimming. Is this a tragic loss to consumers who want to get their movies outside of the Hollywood-mandated channels?

This is just another example of the Man trying to keep the little guy down. It’s a damn shame.

I think it’s more a case of a company (Aereo)wanting to freeload off of other company’s content investments. It amazes me that they thought that they could get that content for free and then profit from it. You can bet that if another company took Aereo’s signal and rebroadcast it without compensating Aereo, Aereo would be screaming bloody murder and suing.

the ruling was based on cable business model, and that cable was going to lose money.they are losing money ,they will continue to lose money, reminds me of the vcr, us developed it and sold rights to japan, thus killing the us electronics for years, why cause they did not want to adapt.cable is unwilling to give up its golden goose.all they are doing is building up animosity to them, like blockbuster did, that was the end of blockbuster, when given a choice people went elsewhere.cable will bve the same once we are given a choice people will leave in droves.
