i always thought if you didnt return a redbox dvd they charged you 1.00 + tax a night for 25 nights then it was yours but now they are saying not only do they charge the 1.00 + tax for 25 nights that on the 25th night they charge an additional 24.00 + tax for a total of $52.43 after tax or $50.75 before tax. is this true or is it just the 25 nights worth of charges?

You are confusing the daily cost with the actual charges to your credit card.
Their billing process charges your card for the first night, then doesn't actually charge your card again until you return the DVD or until another 24 nights have passed. But what you owe them is accruing every day.
So your credit card statement will show charges for $1 plus tax on the first night, then $24 plus tax on the 25th night (or whenever they get around to charging you.) And that's all.
