I thought it was interesting to see a "sunscreen" installed on a kiosk a couple weeks ago. The kiosk faced north, but and the sunscreen seemed to help keep the light rain off the touchscreen. Yesterday I found another site (facing east)that also has a screen. Not all locations here (Oklahoma City) have them, so I suppose they are being installed in phases. Photo:
Anybody else getting sunscreens on your outdoor kiosks?

Yea, they have been around for a few months now. I remember thinking I should write a post about it awhile back, but I never did! :)
Thanks for the photo.

LOL im waiting for someone to file a lawsuit saying they hurt their back cause they thought they had to lift the redbox machine to rent (cause it says LIFT TO RENT) never seen one yet.. but what keeps people from getting shocked when its raining and the machines are soaked with water (the ones outside) also what keeps the movies from freezing over the winter (our weather can get down to - 30) i wonder if they will remove the outside machines in the winter

Shhhh, don't give people lawsuit ideas! I guess manufacturers have figured out how to make kiosks zap-proof in rainy weather (look at all the cola machines that are completely exposed.) I visited Redbox outdoors all last winter in OK. They seemed to work fine for the most part, but I did walk up a couple times and encountered a dead touchscreen. I bet they have heaters.
