I have never heard anything at all, I did start a thread here speculating about it which you might be remembering.
The Redbox website still is soliciting signups to receive a free code the first Monday of each month. Either they are being deceptive or they plan an announcement (or a surprise next Monday). I don't know if Labor Day could affect things though.

Personally, I think they're just way tooo lazy to update their web site... and/or trying to 'MILK IT' for awhile.
BTW... 'the first Monday of the Month free code' was explained as being 'thru the summer' in one post; and 'thru August' in another post.

They had announced codes would continue through August.
But they never announced August would actually be the last one. They left their options open to continue it.
If they indeed failed to update their website in order to encourage new signups, that speaks volumes for a (lack of) integrity. We will see. Especially if there is no announcement or code fothcoming in the next few days.
