I see Redbox putting it's name out there and reaching to those that might not see it on a frequent basis that live in smaller towns. It just might make folks demand that they too get access to a Redbox locally. Redbox would still drive business through the airport but they are also using that opportunity as marketing to as many people as well. I worked for accounts payable at IAH (Houston) about four years ago. It wouldn't surprise me if one machine would cost a minimum of $500 just for space lease (per month). Badge and Security Clearance per person / per airport would be about $150 per year plus parking fees for the trucks when updating the movies and maintenance. </p> <p>I would believe business like Wal-Greens or McDs give a much lower lease rate with the hope people will buy something inside the store... Redbox is $1.00 and I can return it anywhere there is a Redbox. I can grab one in Salt Lake City, watch a movie on the flight over on my laptop and return it in a Redbox in Oakland. The obviousness is that we're paying for "convenience" on this new Blackberry application so we're not having to drive that extra mile to drop it off at a Redbox... but when you factor in gas &amp; time are you really saving that extra $3.99? Also, how long of a wait are we having to look forward to in either downloading or streaming a movie?</p> <p>Then it hit me... why not put Redbox movies in Airports for travelers who might want to watch a movie on their laptop while flying. Opens up a whole new market! I just was wondering if Redbox has looked into it &amp; how feasible it really is... perhaps I haven't looked hard enough and maybe Redbox is making an appearance in airports... but I haven't seen one as of yet.</p> <p>Thoughts? Comments? </p>
