Agree with Laklow. Or maybe on the Redbox Code page, when you put in a code there be a section to also check off (section like the store you used code at) how you got the code: signed up for Redbox email or text, got it when called Redbox with a complaint, got it from a McDonalds food wrapper, got it after doing a survey concerning Redbox, got it as a promotion after purchasing an item or shopping at a certain grocers, etc.... The first 3 reasons above for getting a code are ALWAYS 1x codes, and therefore, if such reasons are checked off maybe Michael could program it so that the 1x code automatically NOT appear on the code page BUT is saved only for the person putting in the code. Perhaps next to the above 3 reason, also have in () that the code is a 1x use code and will not appear on the code page--so the person putting in the 1x code understands why it's not appearing on the code page. AND for all those who still insist on wanting to know and try shared 1x codes, maybe if one of the above 3 reasons were checked, those codes could all automatically go to/be listed on a 1x codes section with comments closed.

I think you are right on with that. I was actually just thinking about this yesterday, and am trying to come up with a good solution. Your idea is a pretty good one, and I will likely be taking a very similar route.

I actually don't have a problem with people logging their one-time use codes, because there are actually times where those codes will work 2 or even 3 times. However, they probably should be marked as such. Plus, allowing them to be posted allows the user to keep track of the codes they have used.

I think the key here is that everyone leaves a comment when they post a new code, particularly sharing where they got the code from. There is a place for that - and a popup does alert them to that fact when a new code is entered - but only logged in users can leave a comment. I have considered requiring users to be logged in to post codes, and perhaps that is the best route to go.

In any case, I am open to suggestions and discussion on this. Feel free to share you thoughts.

Michael

I've only been on this site a little over a month or so and have never posted, but since the new community forums are here, I thought I'd post something that's been bothering me. As the title implies, it's about people posting 1 time use codes under the "Redbox Codes" link. Doing this wastes everybody's time, including the poster of the code, who probably doesn't know any better (some people just can't learn this stuff as easily as others - some just won't try). So, I'd like to suggest that a feature be added where someone posting a new code gets a notice after they press the "save code" button, explaining 1 time use codes and that they should be sure it's not a 1 time use code (maybe by using another CC, or having a friend try the code, etc.) and giving them the option of canceling or continuing with the post.

I've got some unusual health issues, which make it necessary for me to walk everywhere I go, so not seeing so many codes that turn out to be 1 time use codes would be extremely helpful to me, and appreciated.

What are everyone's thoughts on this, especially Michael's (obviously)?
