In my area this alone can be seen...We had 3 Hollywood Video Stores in a five mile radius,
we now have only one left (89th and S. Penn) and it closes July 1st.

To counter, Redbox has recently bumped many one redbox machine Walgreens locations
up to Two Redbox machines, eliminating many of the long lines that many were seeing.....

I hope the studios experience a loss of revenue with this. Making rental company's wait 28 days is crap. If Redbox, blockbuster, or joe schmo's video rental buys the titles or a consumer buys it off the shelf, the studios are still making money either way.

As much I don't like rental delays, I hope this is good to start to end the war studios vs. rental companies.

With rules set. Us, customers, just plan when to watch movies and for how much. And forget about the studios whining......

As far as whether or not the Redbox machines are inside, I think it's a decision of space. If they can fit them inside they will. The main locations that I go to are a 7-11, Walgreens, and Jewel-Osco. The 7-11 and Walgreens don't have the room. Jewel does. But there's several Jewels that have 2 machines and they are always outside. Our Wal-mart has 1, it really needs 2, but they put it inside the lobby area with the soda machines. I would think the stores wouldn't agree to having these things there, inside or out, unless the liability was with Redbox. I live in Chicago and haven't heard of any thefts here but it has happened due to a machine malfunction.

Hello... My name is phillychad. I am really glad I found this site. Looks like alot of fun! I have a question... It seems like for the most part, that there are two main free rental codes out there... DVDONME and BREAKROOM. The few others I have seen are either regional or have been confirmed inactive. Is there simply not that many codes out there? I would think that with a whole web site devoted to it, that there MUST be many more, YET, all I see is the few on the main page. Am I missing something? Also, from time to time, as I'm sure you already know... REDBOX sends me free rental codes. Will these work for others as well? If so, I would love to post them for others to use...

GETTING OVER ON RDBOX...

I was thinking. REDBOX WANTS THE FREE CODES OUT THERE! I don't know about you, BUT personally, due to the low rental fee, I end up keeping my rentals out sometimes for days at a time. Therefore, even though I have used the "free rental" codes I end up still giving REDBOX money for the extra days. That said, I'm certain others (you?) do the same thing and therfore it's in their best intrest to get the "free codes" out there.. Do you agree?

Also, I have noticed as of late, that the machines are ending up outside of the supermarkets. They use to be kept indoors. Is this a decission of REDBOX or the store? Obviously there is no money kept in these machines but I wonder if any of the machines have ever been robed? Especially in a major city like Philadelphia! Have any of you ever heard of this?

BLU RAY?
Does anyone have any info on the future of BLU-RAY being offered by REDBOX? I know that I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a BD DISC...

CONTRACTS...
Does REDBOX have a licinceing agreement with the studios as to which movies are placed for rental? I noticed that when my local REDBOX doesn't have a title I want that DVDXPRESS will carry that title? I am curious about how titles are picked...

Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully gegt back to me on this and I look forward to becomming an active member of this community...

There is no problem in deleting and reinstalling the app - you will not be charged again.

Not sure what the issue is with the app not updating, as I cannot recreate it and have not heard of this issue before outside of these comments.

So, go ahead and reinstall and see if that fixes it. We do have an update in the works that changes how movies are handled, so hopefully if reinstalling doesn't work, it will do the job.

Sorry for the trouble - we do appreciate your feedback and business!

I have been rebooting the "Pro" version of this wonderful app, but for some reason, the available movie list will not update past Tuesday October 6, 2009.

I have been trying everything, and am afraid that if I download again, I will again be charged for the fee to purchase the "Pro" version.

Is this a known error, and currently awaiting an upgrade/fix from iPhone?

Please help, as I do enjoy this app.

Sincerely,

The app automatically updates movie titles on startup. If it did not do this, perhaps you need to try reinstalling the app. I am not sure what happened to cause it not to update.

Also, there is a bug affecting some people in the 1.2.1 version, and 1.2.2 is on its way to fix that.

Hi,
I just downloaded the Inside Redbox iPhone app, but I noticed that the lists of available releases stops after July. Considering that most of the movies in the machines are new releases from the last three months, is there a way this can be made more up-to-date?

Michael,

Thanks for all the work you do for this site and for the new forums! I realize you're probably eager to see upcoming titles for yourself, but you go the extra mile in finding them as early as possible and sharing them with us!

It is rather curious Redbox doesn't share the upcoming titles sooner. If you ever find a reason, I for one would be interested in knowing it.

I don't know. I have been bugging a few of my contacts recently about this to try and get early notice on their new releases.

They don't even do it one day in advance. The only way that I can post them on this site early is if I go down to a local Redbox and check for the "Coming Soon" titles. I usually do this on Monday morning, which is why you see them a day early.
