Complain as it may about having to pay Comcast for direct access to its high speed internet service, Netflix can’t deny that its customers are getting a better streaming experience out of the deal.

Netflix has released its Speed Index for March, and the report shows average Comcast speeds for streaming subscribers rapidly increasing.
From Netflix’s blog:
“This month’s rankings are a great illustration of how performance can improve when ISPs work to connect directly to Netflix. In the US, the average speed on the Comcast network for Netflix streams is up 65 percent from 1.

51Mbps in January to 2.5Mbps in March.”
These numbers don’t lie: Netflix’s streaming experience is improving for Comcast subscribers. Should Netflix’s Hastings and other execs stop whining about a deal that is ultimately benefiting customers?

AVERAGE SPEED?
There was no difference in the QUALITY of the transmission; it was just as crummy after as before– lots of blocking, freezing and other bandwidth-limited artifacts.
OMG, Veron Dent is so right!
We haven’t seen any difference. Audio dropouts and constant buffering much of the time. Amazon seems to stream much cleaner!
I’ve got cheesy DSL from Verizon. They give me 7 Mb download speed. I don’t have any problem with Netflix at all.
I run Netflix thru my ps3 and Cox braudband and it has always been great. Ps3 has incredible acceleration!
