Here we are again on a new movie Tuesday and we have brought back one of the favorite features of many InsideRedbox users – Redbox City Codes!

You may or may not have noticed the return of the Redbox Codes by City/Market section to the website over the past few days, so I just wanted to make sure you were aware of it.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

I added this feature to this message last week and it was received well, so I think I will try and come up with a new question each week that will hopefully help shape Redbox in the future.

Last week we discussed whether or not Redbox should add popular television shows to the box, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. So, Redbox, take notice of what your customers want and get some of the lastest hit shows in the box ASAP!

This week’s question: If you could change just one thing about the Redbox rental experience, what would it be?

Click here and scroll to the bottom to give us your answer

THIS WEEK IN MOVIES

According to the Redbox site, the new movies for the week are: 16 Blocks, Pink Panther, Aquamarine, Dave Chappell’s Block Party, Mystery Woman: Mystery Weekend, and Teddy Ruxpin:Journey Begins.

We will probably check out the first 3 from the list. In fact, I just went out and picked up 16 Blocks before the crowds can get to it first!

REDBOX CODES

There were not any new codes added to the site this past week, but many popular codes are still being used daily.

Visit the Redbox Codes link above to get the full list.

Another important thing to note is another new feature added this past week. You will notice a percentage next to each code that represents how often a code has worked when tested. Any codes that fall below a particular threshold are automatically dropped from the list. This should keep the list full of good, working codes.

That should do it for this week. Don’t forget to visit the link above and answer the “Question of the Week”, and keep reporting those codes!

Have a great week.

    I’d like to see both discs included when a movie is released as a 2 disc edition.

    Go back to the midnight due back time.

    A later return time and a separate slot just for returning dvd’s (i’ve waited 20 minutes and there were only 3 people in front of me!)

    Go back to midnight due back time. I hate it when i get a movie that is scratched adn we cant watch it because were about 15 miles from the redbox.

    I would like to see more selection. Not just new releases, but like the top 100 movies.

    The machine is way to slow from checking you out to dipensing the DVD. I’d also like to see more than one machine in popular areas, there is always a huge wait at the one in Heber.

    I’d like for either all the films to be widescreen or for the information page about the film to tell you if it’s widescreen or pan and scan.

    It would be nice to have a separate place that movies can be returned without interrupting the person trying to check out. It’s stressful if you show up at 6:45pm to return and have to wait 30 min. to be able to return it. It’s also stressful to rent when you know there are 10 people behind you trying to return, but also want to rent.

    It would be wonderful to get a credit (maybe 50 cents) for returning the movie prior to 7pm on the same day that you rented it.

    It would also be nice to have a larger selection and have the screen aspect ratio noted.

    The machines are very slow from my experience. It seems that if you get 2 movies there is about 1 minute between getting your first one and your second one. Returning the movie takes a long time. If you could speed the process up it would be great. The idea with a seperate return station is a very good idea.

    I wish they had a email receipt when you return a movie. two times i have returned the movie and then been charged for it saying it was not returned till 12 or 24 days later.

    I agree with John, a seperate slot for returning movies. The lines are so long to rent that it is frustrating to return a movie, especially when that is all you are there to do.

    Also, be aware of some of the locations of these redboxes. Most are right next to, or in front of the handicapped parking spaces and there is no place to park without crossing an extremely busy parking lot in some instances.

    I wish they would include some LDS movies, such as Down and Derby, etc, in our selections. Also I agree with the midnight time.

    i have tried several times on time and redbox informed it was out of order so i could not return until the next day. which i got charged for

    I would like to be able to reserve a movie online instead of waiting 30+ minutes to get my movie & then it is gone.

    I would also like to see a separate “return slot” for returning the movies…it is a pain to wait 30+ minutes just to return a movie.

    The midnight return time would be awesome too!

    And last, but not least, more selection of popular movies…not just new releases.

    Later return time again, also would like maybe a drive-thru rental and seperate return.

    redbox needs a seperate insert for returns. Sometimes the line gets so long with people renting movies when all I want to do is return which takes a lot less time.

    I can verify that 16 Blocks and Aquamarine are in the machine. Most notably, Green Street Hooligans and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are not in Redbox, which is something I’d like to see changed. When there’s a Teddy Ruxpin video added, but not those two titles which are arguably major studio releases, there’s a problem.

    Thanks, Aaron

    I would like to be able to go online and see what movies are in stock at which redbox… not necessarily to reserve them (which would raise costs) but just to see that Redbox at ABC location has 8 copies of “movie I want”, Redbox at EFG location has 0 copies of “movie I want”, Redbox at XYZ location has 2 copies of “movie I want”. This way I know to head on over to ABC location – not waste my time and gas going to EFG or XYZ.

    Granted, all the copies might be gone by the time I arrive, but at least I am aware of my chances to get what I want with a minimum of running around.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Also I agree that the return process is slow, but I can’t see redbox redoing hundreds of already in place kiosks just to add a separate return slot… that’s way to complicated and it would raise rental costs…. c’mon for a $1 or FREE movie, I am perfectlly willing to wait a few minutes….. and of course there will be a line…. the movies are cheap, everybody wants one, and you are dealing with a computerized machine and an internet connection.
    The time you spend to browse and rent at the face to face movie stores is just as bad…. ITS NOT A BIG DEAL!!!
    Also there is a limited amount of space in the machine…. everybody wants more variety, but face it, the big blockbusters is what makes McD’s money. The niche market is best served at the local rental store. In order to keep redbox cheap for us, they have to offer what makes them money.
    I agree about being slow. I don’t ussually have a line it’s just slow returning them.
    A few things:
    -Quicker dispensing/returning time. Maybe even a seperate slot or kiosk for just returning
    -Better maintainance on damaged disks
    -Later return time
    i cant say i necessarily agree with the seperate return slot as feasible (would be nice though) and def. not a return kiosk because how would the movies get from the return kiosk to the rental kiosk? however, i would love to see the 12am return time back (esp. considering theres no sign really newhere saying it was changed so i, several times returned them after 7pm becaus i did not know until i happened to see it on their website.
    I agree with brettw (Is that Brett Wright who served in Paris?), that what can we really complain about with a movie that only cost us .99. A return kisok would not be feasible and adding a return slot to the kiosks we already have would cost too much. I have noticed that when i returned the last few movies the return was actually faster than before, so something has already happened to speed it up. I just the the redbox experience altogether.
    Marc [visitor]
    I would like them to have multiple dispensers at each location so that the line could move faster. At the very least, one for returns and one for rentals.
  25. Visitor [Join Now]
    Mike Wilson [visitor]
    Everyone seems to agree that a faster return would be nice. It might also help to post a sign, suggestion, that in long lines it would courteous to see if there are any returns only before spending a lot of time shopping for rentals. It has worked sometimes for me.
    The whole separate kiosk/return slot is just not gonna happen I don’t think. It sounds too expensive. If you know it takes about 30 minutes to return a movie, don’t go up there at 6:45. Chance are you’ve had the movie for 24 hours or around there, if not longer. I generally rent a movie early in the morning (or even at midnight sometimes). You still get until the next calendar day, so you get it for what seems like two full days.
    Anyways, I would love for them to expand the drive-thru kiosks that they tested out west. It’s such a great idea.
    I think the due back time should be later or go back to the midnight due time, that was nice. It should also be easier to report damaged videos. Maybe make an option on the machine that you can select if a movie you are returning is scratched or damaged beyond repair. I don’t know if this is everywhere but, we see DVDs that look as if someone rubbed sandpaper on it.
    All in all I love Redbox it is a great idea. Esp. when move rental places keep raising their prices. When I rent a movie why do I need it for five days? I usually rent when I can see the movie and I don’t want to pay a lot when I will probably return it the next day.
    Its really messed up when you go to return some movies and your system is messed up and we cant return movies on time when making a couple of trips trying to return them.Then trying to call the hot line and sitting on hold forever and never getting anyone to anwser,when you cant even voice your appinion on something whithout all of this,somethings wrong.do to me not being able to return the movies on time has caused my debit card to go 72.00 dallers in the hole and for what?YOU gyes are to blame if you ask me,and also hoping that the owner reads this and knows what the red bud red box has costed me.And for being that one day late because of your delayed system.i will never use this again!And plan to do more about this.My card is in arizona through checking and live in IL.This acount is set up for my child support and now they will take all child support untill account is brought back to positive.Being charged 6.00 every day untll then.
    I realize new releases are the moneymakers for RedBox but it would be cool to see some great classics featured each month. Maybe a theme – like SciFi month, or Horror month, or Schwartzeneggar month, or Harrison Ford month, or Julia Roberts month, etc. It would give Redbox a new advertising campaign each month to boost sales and awareness. Also, some classic series such as Raiders, Star Wars, Terminator, etc. could bring repeat business as people watch the entire series throughout the month. In my opinion there’s always at least 10 movies that stay in the RedBox way too long and could be dumped quicker to open up more slots.
    As you sent me an email and asked me to make a comment, I haven’t seen anything updated on Redbox website . My zip code is not acceptable on find locations and It has a Redbox near me like I mentioned before.when I search for movies on line, I have no accuracy on the search, I did a search based on title and I got to see the list, and when I switched to based on release the same movie disappeared.Whoever maintains the website is not doing it right.     I think that a later return time would be a wonderful addition to Red Box. Even if it is only 9pm. By the time I get home from work, grab the movie, pack up the kids, get in the car, drive to the store, stand in line, and finally return the movie it is past 7pm. I understand that the return time is early so the new night’s movie goers have a better selection, however, 7pm is just too early in the real world.
    Later return times would be much better. By the time I’m done with school, work, and pick the kids up fom daycare, there is hardly enough time to get the movie back.
    Our Redbox/Mcdonalds location lock it’s doors at 10:00Pm, making it impossible to rent or return a movie after 10:00. I wish they could all be kept in an easier to access locations that you can get to late at night. I noticed some of them are located outside of the store, why not others?
    I would like to see Redbox have a later return time. Returning a movie(s) by 7 p.m. is hard to do. If Redbox had a later return time like 10:00 p.m. it would be more convenient for people. I would also like to see more movie selections.
    I totally agree, and it’s like you didn’t rent for a day but 2 or 3 days if that’s the case I could rent at my local grocery store, where I know it’s close and doesn’t close as early and has a late nite drop for movies….As does Blockbuster and Hollywood Video…However; I still think is a good idea but needs to work out some quirks.
