Inside Redbox is the #1 "Unofficial" Redbox Online Community for Redbox Codes, News and more. Inside Redbox is not affiliated with Redbox Automated Retail, LLC.

“Change” has been a popular word lately – with the presidential election, housing crisis, markets collapsing, and more…

It is time to make some changes here at Inside Redbox, as well. Hopefully these changes will all be for the better, though, as we attempt to improve the site for everyone.

So what is “Part 1” of this change?

1. REDBOX CODES SYSTEM

The first changes you will see will come on the Redbox Codes page. We are updating the page to make it (hopefully) easier to find the codes you are looking for, and to make it easier to keep track of codes you have used.

We hope to complete these changes within a week, or by November 7. In the meantime, certain features may be unavailable (like the “Codes by State” pages), but don’t panic. We will get things up and running as quickly as possible.

Stay tuned for part 2 (and beyond) for info on the other upcoming features…

With all of these features we are adding comes a cost to us to make it happen. As you have seen, we put advertisements on the site to help pay for the costs of running it. We need to do this because we don’t sell anything and will NEVER charge you for access to a community you helped build…

At this time, there are a few more ads than I would like to see. This has happened because the rising popularity of the site adds to the costs and time required to run it. So, before it gets out of hand, I am making a change, and would like your thoughts on it.

The idea is simple: Become a member, see fewer ads and more promo codes.

Since many of you are already members to fully use the code tracking system, this won’t make much of a difference for you. Membership will – of course – remain free. The only thing that will change is that you will be asked to look at an offer (likely monthly) in order to see the most up-to-date list of codes.

Non-members will still be able to access the site, of course, but they won’t be able to see the codes that have been added/updated in the last 48 hours.

I anticipate that this simple change will simplify the management of the site, pay for the costs of running it, and have some other great side-effects as well (like quicker access to codes and less spam). I would love to hear from you, though, as I do value your feedback. Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

Thanks everyone for making Inside Redbox a great community, and I look forward to bringing you some great new features in the near future!

Ooh! Sounds great! Especially the tracking and mobile options. Two that I would definitely use all the time (or at least every Monday). Great work!

Will the 48-hour non-member restriction on seeing new codes include the Monday (and occasional Wednesday) codes?

    • Administrator
      Michael [administrator]

No, it would not. Those codes will be posted as always.

However, members may end up seeing the Monday code an hour or 2 earlier because it is often on the codes page before the email goes out.

When will Redbox have Blueray DVD’s available?

  4. Visitor [Join Now]
    Richard [visitor]

al gatt some of the Redbox locations already have Blu-ray. I myself have only seen one Blu-ray movie at 1 location here in San Antonio, TX. I saw the third Pirates of the Caribbean on Blu-Ray. They didn’t even have the DVD version of it though.

Also here in San Antonio, TX they have some other movie kiosks but I don’t know what they are called but I’ve heard that they have them at some H-E-B locations.

    Returning and Renting

Should be a separated Input, or can be Returned while someone is sting selecting their movies.

It should just add a additional button on top of the Venting In/Out put, as long as someone press that button, even someone is still selecting the movies, the Box will accept the return movies, regardless other people is doing with their screen, maybe a pop up screen will indicate whether the movie has been return successfully, mostly, it is the disc needs to be place in certain way, should be designed if the disc is not face up the correct way, it can not be insert into the disc cover.

Just some thoughts to make the operation smoother, especially the waiting to return part is a killer.

    cheers

Sounds fine. I just hope when I look at an ad and don’t want it, I have to go through so many questions to be told I must buy something.

Sounds good to me. I don’t mind a little inconvenience in order to have a good thing.

Lawrence H, I often thought the very same thing. If someone comes up behind me and I see they are holding a movie, I’ll ask them if they are going to just return it. If they say yes, I move aside and let them deposit their movie and then go back to making my selection. But I agree, if someone doesn’t do this and you have to wait and wait for them to make their selection (s), it is a real bummer.

Joan Z, I agree with you on the ads. Glad you posted that.

As for an additional button on top of the Venting In/Out would stop the person who wants the movie he or she is binging back. Many time’s I have let the person ahead of me so I could get their movie they are bringing back. It would be hard to make it work better doing it that way.

    Michael,
I appreciate your care and attention you give each and every one of us. I can’t believe you could possibly make it any easier than it is now.

When someone is returning a movie or two, I step aside and let them proceed with the return. (takes less pressure off me when I’m standing there trying to decide what to rent)

Read a few ads??? That the least I can do for you!!

    Thanks for everything……….
    Stay well

Here in Central Florida, Orlando and surrounding areas like Cocoa Beach, Palm Bay, and of course West Melbourne, (that’s me), Red Box is only in WalMarts so far. I noticed today that they have added a lot of Blue Ray Discs. I have been using the codes very successfully so far. One time per Debit Card though even if I go across town. I tried today 2 different machines in two separate locations thinking that they were not that up to date yet – silly me – no go. “Expired – You Have Already Used That Code” Anyway here are 2 that I got from a rep – they may work for you – they did for me…60ZHX6 and Q7JWKG – It never hurts to try…Denver Dogg

      @Denver:

The codes that you get from a rep are “One-time use” codes. They can only be used one time, period. So, if you use it, no one else can use it later.

This is true of codes you get over the phone or that get handed to you on the little red/white cards.

I appreciate the changes you are making, please keep IR free! I don’t mind clickin through an ad every once in a while to keep getting free codes! I like getting a free movie rental and the extra minute of my time is worth it.

This idea works for me, and have already seen it work well on a few other sites for freebies that I subscribe to. I really appreciate all of your efforts, Michael, especially in these times when money is so tight! We all need to find ways to entertain ourselves and our families without breaking the bank. :O)

I thought I had better leave a comment, so my membership stays intact. I really enjoy getting the codes, and don’t always use them, as I live in the country, and don’t always drive into town on Mondays. I really appreciate that this site is still free, and do not mind if I will have to read a few ads. I appreciate the work you all do to keep it free.
    Thanks, Carman

This change is very cost effective. I have seen other sites do this to keep it going. Thank you for the wonderful service and effort that you give your subscribers. My children and I look forward to movie night at our house since we are unable to go to the theatres.
