Not content to relegate Redbox and Netflix behind delayed new release windows, Fox Home Entertainment now has a 28-day delay deal in place with NCR-owned Blockbuster Express. Blockbuster itself, which licenses its name to NCR, is not affected by the deal.
EVP and GM of Fox, Simon Swart, said the following about the deal:
“This agreement supports our retail and rental strategy, while allowing us to continue to deliver the best available movies and television shows in the market to our consumers,” . . . “We aggressively seek out ways to provide the greatest access to all our content while ensuring it makes the best sense for our business.”
Fox will be testing release date premium rentals as well as sell-through of DVD and Blu-ray new releases at Blockbuster Express kiosks. According to Justin Hotard, VP and GM of NCR Entertainment:
“Our test with Fox gives our customers a choice when renting from us and gives them their must-see movies faster, helping them to make every night a movie night . . . We believe this consumer choice aligns with our strategy.

The 28-day delay has been ongoing at the BlueBox for awhile now with Fox, Universal and Warner. I guess this just makes it official with Fox.

So Blockbuster, you tell us that you have these movies 28 days before Redbox and Netflix in your stores, kiosks and online. Looks like your kind of liars now. The companies are starting to bite you in the ass too.
blue box is no match for red box, when it comes to bluray stock. None of the kiosks in the 15 mile radius have any blurays. but every red box has most of the blurays…
I’ve seen a limited amount of Blu Ray discs in my local BlueBox kiosks.
Any BlueBox in Houston have Blu-Ray?
