And the Oscar Nominees Are…

download (1)It’s Oscars season again! The nominees for the 88th Academy Awards were announced today to much fanfare and some dissonance. Let’s muse a bit on the good and not-so-good picks by the Academy and a few potential nominees who were clearly snubbed.

For the second year running, all of the nominees in the major acting categories are lily white, which is a strange move for an Academy that claims to be trying hard on the diversity front.

Some major snubs also happened, such as Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg both being ignored for their major contributions to Bridge of Spies, which is nominated for Best Picture.

The Revenant received the most nominations, and it looks like Leonardo DiCaprio may finally take home his coveted Oscar statue for his brutally physical role in that movie.

I’ll be posting my picks for the winners before the Academy Awards air on February 28.

The ONLY two names, and two categories that I even think deserve a glove clap, with all who make MILLIONS for acting is the Best Supporting Actor (Sylvester Stallone- for CREED) and, pains me to say, Matt Damon for ‘The Martian.’ and Jennifer Lawrence, for ‘Joy.’

The Best Movie, that I see on these ‘picks’ is ‘The Martian.’ In the value of the acting, and not the value the actor lives in reality and a nutjob (Matt Damon).

I have seen only one of choices: Mad MAX -Fury Road.
So it impossible for me to pick any of them.
How many of these movies have been available at RedBox ?

A lot of Oscar oriented films are released in December so they are fresh in the voters’ minds, so probably just The Martian and Mad Max.
