And the Oscar Nominees Are…

download (1)Oscars season is upon us once more, and the nominees for the 86th Academy Awards have been announced. We’ll list and dish on the nominees for the major categories after the jump.

As always, there were some obvious picks as well as some major misses this year. Tom Hanks, who gave a riveting performance in Captain Phillips (nominated for best picture), is nowhere to be found on the best actor list. Ditto Emma Thompson, who many thought would receive a nod for her practically perfect performance in Saving Mr. Banks.

I’ll be posting my picks for the winners before the Academy Awards air on March 2. In the meantime, check out for the full list of nominees. Leave your thoughts in the comments on who got the nomination they deserved and who got snubbed.
