downloadSaid “no” to a bundled cable service? You’re far from alone. According to analyst Craig Moffett with MoffettNathanson, nearly 15 percent of U.S. households have cut the cable cord.

Moffett thinks that the cord-cutting phenomenon is a combination of changing consumer preferences and ratings measuring service Nielen’s inability to accurately track viewing as consumer options multiply.

Said Moffett:

“Whether the declines are due to behavior or measurement shortcomings may be irrelevant. Either way, the pressure this suggests on content provider revenue is unambiguous,”

Is the cord-cutting situation as dire for pay-TV companies as this analyst is suggesting. Is the cable cord still intact in your home?

15%.. Come again.. Let’s try about 35-40%.. I have went to 10 peoples homes. And 4 of them have cut the Cable Cord. And 2 others are thinking about it. And I now see some of the TV stations are starting a online deal..
Cable will need to come to the party soon..

I cut the cord 2 years ago. I do have internet with Hulu plus, Netflix, and Amazon Prime( which I use mostly for the 2 day shipping) along with 12,000 dvd’s. I am happy except for missing some live sports.

The statistics are somewhat vague. It should be more precise… 15% of households with BUNDLED services have a cord that can be cut! And have done so.

Once services like DirecTV’s SLING [among others- that get it right!] stream major sports without a cable contract for a reasonable price, the percentage of cord cutters will go way up.

As a happy DirecTV customer, let me say – quite a lot. The channel choices are a LOT better.

And when Comcast gets Time Warner. If you are on Time Warner.. You can kiss it good by. So sometime this year. Will will kiss it good by.
I will not put up with Comcast B.S….

It is already on market, been watching for past three weeks in beta testing, and all PPV movies and MMA sports are free, and no monthly fees, said good by to satellite and good riddance.

I cut the cable cord years ago…Have not looked back. I am a streaming fool. Now bring competition to our selection of cable providers, and all will be right with the world…well, almost.

Now everyone can cut the cord with new streaming everything technology, so lets see what the future holds for cable, satellite and rentals.

The cable companies have gotten smarter. We just moved in August to an area controlled by Comcast.

After the first year, Internet by itself is actually $7 more expensive than Internet + Cable. In other words, $70 for Internet and $63 for Internet + Cable. There is either a $7 penalty or incentive depending on how you look at it. It’s all about retention and figures.

So even though I can afford an extra $7, it seems silly for me to pay them extra money to prove a point because I’d be getting less for more money. I will likely keep my cable for the long forseeable future.

I went from the big dish to cable after all the big dish content went away.
I still use an OTA antenna combined with Uverse.
I don’t think I’ll abandon cable anytime soon.

And now for some bad new… the FCC is about to ok the new Net rules. And the Comcast Time Warner deal.
And that will be the end of the net as we know it.. your speed will drop. The net caps will kick in.
Then they will have three speeds of the net.. Slow. Med, Fast.
And everything will go up a good 25-30%. And streaming will take a hit. If you watch 5,6 movies in HD.. You will be over you cap’s.. and you will be charged up the kisser.

Yes, the threat of another gov. run mess just got a little bit closer. Think about it, the gov. has screwed us through the IRS, SEC, ATF, EPA, VA, OBAMACARE, and now the FCC, disgusting. PERIOD
