As the physical movie disc continues on its slow decline, one surprising thing may be helping to delay the demise of the format: Amazon Prime. According to the company’s CFO, Tom Szkutak, Amazon’s $99 per year Prime subscription increases sales of books, music, and especially movie discs.
Szkutak says that Amazon is in an “investment mode” regarding Prime, which offers free two-day shipping on most Amazon products and unlimited streaming. According to the CFO, Prime members are buying more packaged-media content than non-Prime members.

Said Skutak:
“It’s been a great impact for us. We’re seeing similar trends in terms how much physical product they’re purchasing from us .

Are you an Amazon Prime member? If so, do your spending habits fall in line with Szkutak’s statements?

Just a sales pitch……..
Amazon is ok… But I will sit tight with NetFlix and Warner Bros Instant…
Not me – I use Prime a ton but don’t buy physical media.
I have prime and buy tons of stuff thru Amazon. I do buy 3D Blu-ray Discs a lot
The Prime is now not the best deal in town, if you shop, most item can be purchased from Amazon (other) for with shipping for less that Prime with shipping!!
Opps!!! What I meant to say is Prime (with free shipping) if often times more than buying from another Amazon vendor and paying your own shipping!!! There, got it!!
I have prime but it doesn’t influence how much i buy of physical media at all.
I don’t use Prime since I rarely buy stuff online.
I have Prime, but rarely buy physical media anymore. Increasingly Amazon is not the cheapest in general anymore. This looks like a sales pitch to me.
