downloadFans of Amazon’s Prime Instant Video streaming service just got more to cheer about, as the company has expanded its content deal with CBS to include more CBS and Showtime programming.

New shows that are coming to Prime Instant Video because of the deal include America’s Next Top Model, Everybody Loves Raymond, Undercover Boss, United States of Tara, and others.

Brad Beale, Director of Digital Video Content Acquisition for Amazon, said the following about the expanded agreement:

“CBS was one of our earliest content partners for Prime Instant Video and our Prime customers have consistently told us how much they love having access to great CBS and Showtime shows . . . Adding a wider selection of great TV series, while extending our already popular selection of CBS programming, continues to make Prime an even better deal for customers – and we love that.

Scott Koondel, Chief Corporate Licensing Officer for CBS Corporation, was similarly effusive:

“We’re very pleased to extend our relationship with Amazon and their Prime Instant Video service . . . Clearly the appetite for CBS programming continues to be very healthy, and we look forward to continuing to reach and establish new fans through Amazon’s terrific platform.”

The streaming business just keeps getting more and more competitive. Will Amazon’s arch-rival Netflix be able to come up with a counter-punch to this new deal?

No.. Amazon is still miles behind NetFlix… And they still do not have Closed Caption on anything. And that leaves out millions that need it. And Amazon can put it on. They have the money to do so.
They just don’t care.. It will only be a mater of time and they will get hit like NetFlix did about it.
And they they will put it on.  Not because they want to. But because that have to..
I will sit tight with NetFlix.. And my three out at a time with Block Buster in the mail.

This is great and may actually get me back to Prime. We did the free trial but didn’t renew after we realized it’s pretty much the same content as Netflix. I’d love to see Undercover Boss & ANTM.
