This has been a week of many updates…
THE NEW WEBSITE
Yesterday I announced InsideDVDPlay.com, a new website in the InsideRedbox network…
With DVDPlay, you can get more free codes for more free movies - something we all love to see.
Check it out it at InsideDVDPlay.com
REDBOX REACHES NEW MILESTONE
A news release from Redbox tells us that they have now rented over 38,000,000 DVDs - and will have over 4000 locations by the end of June. Just in April alone, Redbox will add 700 new locations…
They have come a long way, and we are glad to be along for the ride.
VIRTUAL TREASURE HUNT
We annouced the winner of Episode 2 - Ozair I. of Utah - who will be receiving a new Nintendo Wii very soon. Congratulations to Ozair…
This week, we have made the Treasure Hunt even better (read: easier) so that YOU can win, too… With the new points system, the only way you can lose is by not participating.

COMING SOON
We are working hard to make InsideRedbox even better, and we are listening to your input…
We are making some changes to the site layout so it is easier to navigate and find the info you need. Also, we are revamping the codes system a bit to make it even better…
And, we have more sites to be added to the InsideRedbox network…
As always, we appreciate your feedback, so please leave a comment below if you have anything to share with us…
Until next time - keep using and sharing those Redbox Codes!

I also notice that a lot of people direct their comments at Redbox here... I have many times said that this site is independent - and it even says it in the header of the site - but some people do think otherwise...
So, again I will say that I, Michael, do own and operate this site independently, and am not affiliated in any way with Redbox or its owners.

I understood that not to be the case. Rather, I thought that Michael owned and operated the site independantly.
Is that no longer true?

No, those codes only work at DVDPlay...
Of course, there is always the chance of overlapping codes, so it is worth a shot, but not likely, I think.

But the biggest peeve is waiting in line to return the movie. Can't you redesign the machines to accept a return while someone is renting?
Otherwise we are thrilled with Redbox regardless of being able to get a free movie or not. As someone stated previously, who else has ever given you a free movie...certainly not Blockbuster.... stop whining!!!!

"oh, if you don't give me free movies I'm going to the competition"
Well why would they care, you aren't ever paying!!!

Just a thought!
PS: I too have had trouble getting codes to work recently. It is disapointing, but I don't mind paying occasionally. If I can get one free per month, I'm pretty happy :)

You have lots of competition out there. There are kiosks in places other than RedBox that also charge $1 for a video.
So you need to use a one upmanship idea to get these people to use your machines. The idea of the promo codes should lure these folks away from the competition once they find out about RedBox.
Keep up the good work!
Additional note - there are lots of disappointed customers out there who arrive at your kiosks between 6:40PM & 7 PM to return their videos & are forced to pay an additional $1 for a video they have already watched & are returning because people in line are dawdling & taking too long to decide on their choice for their next rental.
What happened to your return videos at 10 PM policy?

That is very interesting. Thank you for letting us know...
This is even more reason to check for the Codes that have been reported working/failed in your own state, not just the main codes list...
It does make sense for them to limit codes to areas where they are either new, don't have a strong presence, or there is a lot of competition.
While I am sure they will still make codes available to all Redbox customers, they may get fewer over time. We just need to make sure we stay up-to-date by adding codes to the site and checking back often.
However, like I mentioned before, Redbox is still the best deal around, free or $1.

I agree that if too many "not active codes" are punched in, then the "red box" turns dumb on you. Also, you must really watch your fingers on the keyboard, it is so easy to be on the wrong key when punching in codes. So, bad typing will send the machine into "dumbness".
We now have a new machine outside a local gas station, along with those inside the super markets. I'm afraid the outside machine will get "beat up" by frustrated customers. Already I see "footprints" on the clear keyboard pad. The people inside the gas station are getting frustrated dealing with the "redbox customers" who can't get it to work, either "for real" or with "promo codes". Its taking too much of their work time to go outside and help those out who don't really know how to use the box.

The codes do work quite often, so there are definitely still people using codes and getting free movies...
Regarding selling your email - what are you talking about? Redbox states in their Privacy Policy that they do not sell your personal information - and I believe them. They would be in a lot of hot water if they did that. There is simply no benefit for them to do so, and making such an unfounded claim in a public place is irresponsible.
I say we just keep trying the codes, and we will figure out what is going on. No matter what, Redbox is a great bargain at $1/day. Where else can you see new movies for that kind of money?
